Local Postal Boxes

localpostalsolutio

The first two Local Postal Boxes are in and although there’s a little bit of finesse needing to be applied, they are functioning and ready to accept your Wirral mail. Leaflets are dropping around these locations to let the immediate residents know there is an alternative that is more affordable and more efficient and supporting local business and raising money for local charity. Leaflet drops are often not well received, but I can say the reaction to our Local Postal Box leaflet is very positive. And for the very first time since starting the business 15 months ago people are saying that they’ve seen them posted on Facebook and even heard of our business. The kind words of one New Brighton resident today almost got me a bit overwhelmed. At the end of the day, this is my job, I have planned it, created it and now we are just cracking on with it. It’s simply the best job I could have possibly made for myself.

With little over 2 months till Christmas we are starting to ramp up mail and parcel deliveries amidst a sea of leaflet deliveries. Concentrate leaflet deliveries will cease in a few weeks to make time for our Christmas pressure. However leaflet deliveries with our mail deliveries will continue as this is the best way to get a response to our clients advertising. It also assists with our revenue, whic allows us to keep our mail more affordable than any other service.

We have a lot, I mean a lot of people asking the same question when it comes to our Local Postal Boxes and it’s “where do I purchase the stamps?”. I completely get it, for over 500 years nobody knows any different. Stamps are simply a way of RM controlling revenue as their boxes are accessible to the public, in the street, on a corner, outside the post office etc. You need a stamp on RM mail as you have access to it privately and they need to ensure you have paid for the service. However, our Local Postal Boxes are not freely accessible. They are all within shops. So, you find your nearest shop, you take your mail. You pay for however many items you need to send. The postbox host then stamps your mail to confirm payment and to identify the shop it has been posted at (see next paragraph why this is important). The host will then pop your mail in the postbox ready for the Local Postal Solutions collection. We pick your post up, sort it and it enters our Wirral network ready for delivery. It’s then delivered.

Each shop will have its own stamp colour or a shop stamp. This then lets us narrow down any discrepancies in delivery for example incomplete address, no such address, outside of Wirral delivery and also and we had a few of these last year, recipient no longer at address or even recipient deceased.

Last year I had a Christmas card sent through our service and when we delivered it we were informed the recipient had died some years back and every Christmas they get numerous cards in their name. Obviously, it’s very sad and it’s news no one wants to hear but I had no way of narrowing down which shop it had come from so no chance of tracing the sender and letting them know. The shop stamp or colour allows us to return any mail that can’t be delivered and at least gives us a chance of possibly finding the sender.

On that note a few things that might be helpful when using our Local Post Boxes. On the back of your letter maybe write a return address this can be as simple as just your postcode and house number, this ensures anything we can’t deliver will get returned to you with a reason for non delivery. Never send money through any mail service, although our service is 100% trustworthy sending money through the post leads to dispute which leads to unhappy customers and an unhappy work force. Also if you could pay cash this really helps as when paying by card for example £10 the host might have to pay up to 20p to the card machine server for the transaction, that 20p would be more appreciated by this years charity “Charlottes Brightside” than a banker supping cocktails on his luxury yacht in the Bahamas. When using local businesses especially cash is still and will always be king 👑.

On a final note, thanks for all the amazingly supportive e-mails and phone calls from people wanting to use our service and returning customers from last year wanting to know where this years hosts are. Let’s not forget that these post boxes are not just for Christmas, they are staying in all year round.

Oh and one last thing last day for posting Christmas cards is 18th December anything after this date cannot be guranteed to be delivered by Christmas with the expected volumes.
