Well I am officially shattered after focusing some attention on the beautiful Bromborough. I had taken out about 1400 leaflets and returned home with 5. A full hour without stopping normally reaps about 200 calls, and for the first 4 hours I never stopped once. Then I found a nice bench for some lunch and plotted a tactical route back to base. Apart from the walking it’s been a highly unproductive day. With meetings planned for the next 2 days I felt an urge to get a big delivery day in.
There is almost always something that’s mildly entertaining that happens when your out for so long, but today was very bland. Whether that was just how it was or because I really wasn’t feeling in the best spirits, I just don’t know. Tomorrows another day and a full 8 hour sleep away. Just on a side note what would you class as junk Mail? I am really conflicted when I go to a door and it says no junk Mail. For me if it says no leaflets, I won’t put one through. If however it only says no junk Mail I will put a leaflet in. I am not sure if I am splitting hairs here but for me Mail is something that is addressed. And as a postman it’s a pointless sign, if I came to your door with some addressed Mail which I would consider to be junk, should I deliver it? Someone has paid for it to be sent and it could be of some value to the customer but to me it’s junk. Of course I would 100% without question deliver it. So is there ever an occasion when I have read a no junk Mail sign and not delivered addressed Mail and the answer is no. One man’s junk is another man’s treasure so they say, so by not delivering junk, I’m also not delivering one man’s treasure. So if you have a no junk Mail sign on your door but what you actually mean is no pizza menus, advertising leaflets etc. change your sign to no leaflets or advertising. At least then I won’t feel slightly insecure about the customers displeasure. I think the longest walk deserved the longest paragraph of waffle. Have a great Tuesday.
Not just a postman.
