As the financial year draws to an end…..

We have a lot to be thankful for. Firstly, we are still in business. Start ups are notoriously difficult to get off the ground. With ours being very niche it was always going to bring about a lot of challenges. Fortunately the clients we have obtained are quite simply amazing and we are proud to say that not one business has switched to us and gone back to Royal Mail. I have made myself a job, and not just any job, a job I love, a job which makes a difference to every customer we serve. A job in which we deliver our promises every single day. If I am honest financially we have missed our targets, and although those targets were based on fiction, estimations and guesswork, I still considered them achievable. However our position going forward is extremely strong, our traction is gaining momentum and people are gradually sharing our vision for the future.

During the last 9 months since we started my vision of how the operation works has evolved and shifted so much from my original plan. It’s been a huge learning curve, but it’s also brought immense satisfaction to my working life. When I set out my business plan there was many stages I think about 9 or 10. We are at stage 3 which is ahead of schedule, but there has also been a few stages added. Some of these stages are extremely exciting and diversify what we already offer. I look forward to sharing these visions later in the year.

One aspect I didn’t anticipate at this stage was delivering school mail, only due to how difficult it is to get into these establishments. We are currently running a hugely successful trial for an amazing Wirral school. Even a large portion of their silver class (2nd class) mail is being delivered the same day as collection. We have been presented with an opportunity to showcase what we do to other schools later this year. It’s an amazing opportunity for us, but an outstanding opportunity for schools to significantly reduce their mail costing. As you may be aware Royal Mail are pushing their prices up a further 10p next week but not increasing the cost of franking. Basically punishing any loyal clients who don’t generate enough volumes of mail to warrant a franking machine. It would be very easy for us to follow suit with the price increases, but quite simply you’re already paying far too much for posting a letter.

What can you expect from Local Postal Solutions in the next 12 months?

A greater presence on social media, with an educational led insight into our services. Keep an eye out for a TikTok or two, possibly even a live in the summer when using the bike.

A bigger market share of post and parcels, it’s inevitable.

A new summer uniform, and maybe a van.

I know my blogs have been a bit infrequent of late, it hasn’t been the greatest few months for health. Back problems, common colds etc. The usual winter problems, so hopefully spring will be the d boost needed to get back on track.

Not just a postman.
